Starting nearly two years before actually chartering at CSU, a group of friends wanted to start an organization where women could come together and feel empowered by each other.
Eight women set out to form an organization where women of all different background can come together and find support within each other. After a year and a half of unsuccessful attempts to find a Greek organization that meshed well with their group dynamic, these sisters finally discovered Alpha Phi Gamma - an organization that promotes friendship, sisterhood, service and Asian Awareness.
They pledged to form the Charter "Coco Chanel" Class at Colorado State University. The eight women crossed over as life-long sisters of Alpha Phi Gamma on June 8, 2008.
Alpha Phi Gamma is the first sorority of its kind on campus and the second in the entire state of Colorado - that, itself, is a huge accomplishment. The sorority was able to provide growth for a whole new group of women who might have not had the opportunity to be leaders on campus.
